  • Job Description

    This position will provide marketing and administrative support for the Seaman Family Enterprises-including support for the Family Council Chair, Chairman of the Board of Directors, Director of Seaman Business Enterprises Services (SBES), and Family Council members. Key responsibilities will include making meeting arrangements, planning meals and events, providing website and other marketing support, document preparation and review, and program coordination. The role will support the vision and mission of a multigenerational family business and will foster positive working relationships amongst family members, business leaders, and the Seaman Corporation Board of Directors.


    Key responsibilities for this position include:

    • Works with Family Council Chair to organize and facilitate Family Council meetings: schedules, sets agendas, distributes advanced materials, moderates discussions to develop decisions and actions documents and documents the meetings
    • Coordinates and manages opportunities for presentations and coordinates third party engagements
    • Researches and develops programming to engage all family members
    • Plans and facilitates an engaging Annual Family Assembly with input and support from the FC chair and committee members, including but not limited to: site selection, scheduling of events and activities, educational programming, budget management, communications, and travel logistics
    • Coordinates with Executive Assistants for scheduling, travel, event planning, and other administrative functions, as needed
    • Ensures the development, review, revision and communication of all governance documents with the family, the business and the Board of Directors
    • Utilizes digital platforms (i.e. Trusted Family) to communicate effectively and foster family engagement
    • Helps the Family Council Chair to effectively manage the Seaman Family budget and expense reporting
    • Evaluates grants and makes recommendations for the Seaman Family Foundation; supports other family and business philanthropic endeavors
    • Cultivates positive relationships among family members and develops solutions relevant to family governance
    • Supports special projects associated with the Seaman Family Business Enterprises
    • Coordinates the marketing efforts to promote Richard Seaman’s book, “A Vibrant Vision” and its theme of growing a family business for multigenerational success
    • Partners with Seaman Corporation’s marketing team and business leaders to support messaging among customer base

    • Encourages participation and collaboration from the family on Family Council committees and task forces, coordinates work, and ensures follow through on Family Council initiatives
    • Coordinates communication and information sharing between Family Council members, Board of Directors and other business leaders
    • Coordinates successful transition of new family members into the Family Council
    • Conducts research as necessary, relative to the Family Council and SBES
    • Serves as liaison between the family and family business-related educational and networking organizations and encourages participation in the educational programming offered through these organizations

    This position requires:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Communications, Marketing or related degree
    • Experience working within a multigenerational family business, family office and/or family council
    • Well-organized, detail-oriented, and self-motivated
    • High degree of professional maturity; extremely discreet and mindful of confidentiality
    • Self-directed and able to act independently, take charge of projects, and proactively resolve problems
    • Strong administrative skills and proficient with Microsoft Office Suite products
    • Excellent written, verbal communication skills
    • Must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 prior to the start date; proof of vaccination will be required
    • Possesses a valid driver’s license, with an acceptable driving record
    • Must be able to travel a minimum of 25% of the time
