An experienced Quality Control and Food Safety Manager leader. Someone with a focus on quality consistent products, as well as the passion to build, train and lead a culture of food safety to ensure that our products meet all necessary requirements before they reach the consumer with a passion for quality. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and manage all food safety and quality systems as they relate to USDA regulatory requirements and the company’s GFSI, currently BRC, programs (i.e. HACCP, GMP, SOP, SSOP) and certification.
  • Ensures high quality products that meet customer expectations while maintaining compliance with USDA, other applicable regulations, as well as company policies and procedures.
  • Manage and report all KPI’s related to cut specifications, yield control, and employee compliance with all relative programs.
  • Responsible for all CAPA response to USDA non compliances, GFSI non conformances, and direct Customer complaints.
  • Respond and maintain all customer and vendor documentation requests and filings.
  • Research and resolve technical issues related to food safety and quality.
  • USDA label approvals for ingredients, nutrition panels, as well as researching and developing programs for special claims, such as animal welfare.
  • Build a strong QA Tech Team through mentoring, coaching, and training.
  • Manage QA Tech team- scheduling personnel and delegating tasks to ensure timely and accurate completion of the daily operational tasks and pre-operational inspections.


Job Requirements

Education / Training:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in animal, food science or a related field.
  • Basic reading, writing and math skills.
  • Related Experience / Requirements:
  • Minimum of 5 to 8 years of experience in food safety and/or food science.
  • Manager experience (minimum 3 yrs.)

Required Qualifications:

  • Comprehensive knowledge of USDA, FSIS, HACCP, GMP, SOP, GFSI requirements.
  • Knowledge of food safety as it relates to hygiene, sanitation, and quality training.
  • Proficient in MS Outlook, Word, Power Point, Excel.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Preferred Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of meat cuts for retail and food service and product specification development and maintenance.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish)

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to work in cold and hot environments.
  • Ability to lift up to 60 pounds.
  • Ability to: step, climb, balance, squat, kneel, bend, and reach above shoulders as needed.
