Seaman Corporation is seeking a Codes & Approvals Manager to join our Commercial team! This position will report to the Technical Services Manager in Wooster.

 

POSITION SUMMARY

The Codes and Approvals Manager plays a critical role in ensuring the successful installation of Seaman Corporation products that safeguard the customers valuable assets by overseeing various aspects related to codes, approvals, and testing for FiberTite Roofing Systems. They develop and maintain building code approvals that align with the Seaman Corporation’s global strategy. They work closely with various departments within Seaman Corporation, contribute to new product development, and provide expertise for training opportunities. Additionally, this role collaborates across functions to drive innovation through new product and application development to enhance existing value and align with Seaman Corporation’s global strategy.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Manage Building Code and Regulatory Approvals for Seaman Corporation products globally, ensuring market needs are met and competitive advantage is maintained.
  • Summarize information for use by Sales, Marketing, Product Management, and Technology Group.
  • Monitor and communicate Building Code Approval needs and implement strategy and policy modifications as required. This includes input from consumer demand, voice of customer, code trends, new standards/regulations, gaps, market needs/trends, new products, new application methods, and new systems.
  • Manage, coordinate, and execute all projects on time and on budget to fill strategic Seaman Corporation needs to support sustainable growth.
  • Provide expertise for competitive systems and products for Technical Services messaging.
  • Develop and implement system approval and alternative opportunities, for use by Marketing, Sales, Technology and Technical Services.
  • Manage tasks daily by analyzing workflow needs and establishing priorities and setting deadlines when necessary to keep personnel on task.
  • Coordinate with Seaman Corp Quality Systems to ensure compliance with all code body audits: ensure audit manuals are current and accurate, all audit non-compliances are addressed and that all audits are conducted as required.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders regarding including Building Codes, Approvals, compliance, and system performance.
  • Design strategy and project plans to advance Seaman Corporation’s competitive edge, implement said plans, assign project activities to personnel and monitor milestone and completion progress.
  • Negotiate and execute code and testing contract agreements with third-party testing laboratories, certification laboratories, and third-party component suppliers to support Seaman Corporation needs.
  • Collaborate with Technical Service, Sales, Marketing, and Technology team members to develop Seaman Corporation resources such as product datasheets, installation guides, sales tools, marketing, literature, and presentations.
  • Participate in departmental staffing decisions, including recruiting, hiring, training, and workflow management.
  • Develop and monitor approved operational budget to cover Technical Services Codes and Approval’s needs.
  • Represent Seaman Corporation at Industry Trade and Standard Development Organizations (i.e. ASTM, SPRI, CFFA/VRA, RCMA, FM Coalition).

 

Job Requirements

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Applicants should have a Bachelor’s degree in science or engineering
  • Prior experience in building codes for the roofing industry or with building codes

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Prefer minimum 5-8 years Code Approvals and building codes experience within commercial roofing or related commercial construction, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
