Seaman Corporation is seeking an Accountant to join our SeaCorp Services and Seaman Family Office team! This position will report to the VP of Strategic Investments in Wooster.

POSITION SUMMARY: The accountant will oversee the preparation and analysis of financial reports to track the organization’s assets, liabilities, profit and loss, tax liabilities, and other related financial activities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Performs general accounting and other related duties in the accounting department
  • Oversees the preparation and analyzes periodic (monthly) balance sheets, income statements, cash flow, and profit and loss statements
  • Manages consolidation of financial statements across multiple related entities
  • Manages the general ledger
  • Maintains banking relationships and addresses inquiries from banks
  • Manages accounts receivable and accounts payable processes
  • Provides outside auditors with assistance; gathers necessary account information and documents to perform annual audit
  • Files required tax forms with federal, state, and local government agencies
  • As appropriate, coordinates with software vendor to maintain accounting software system; recommends updates to enhance the accounting software
  • Performs other related duties as assigned

 

Job Requirements

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline required; 5-10 years of accounting experience required.
  • Experience in the accounting of business acquisitions, consolidation, and LLC’s
  • Extensive knowledge of general financial accounting
  • Understanding of and ability to adhere to generally accepted accounting principles
  • Highly proficient with accounting software (QuickBooks)
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience with commercial real estate and FBO accounting
  • CPA/advanced degree in accounting and/or business
