Seaman Corporation is seeking a Benefits Specialist to join our HR Shared Services team! This position will report to the HR Shared Services Manager Wooster.

 

POSITION SUMMARY: The Benefits Specialist will be responsible for administering and managing employee benefits programs, ensuring a seamless experience for employees while maintaining compliance with

company policies and regulations. This role involves handling benefits enrollment, responding to employee inquiries, working with vendors, and supporting benefits-related reporting and audits. The Benefits Specialist plays a key role in communicating benefit offerings, educating employees on their benefit options, and assisting with problem resolution to enhance overall satisfaction and engagement.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Serves as subject matter expert on company benefits including but not limited to health, dental, vision, life insurance, disability, and 401(k) plans
  • Utilizes HR Information Systems (HRIS) to enter, update, and maintain accurate employment, benefits and compensation data
  • Ensures accurate and timely processing of benefits enrollment, changes, and terminations, and maintains benefit vendor file feeds
  • Partners with third-party vendors and brokers to administer benefits programs efficiently
  • Acts as a liaison between associates and benefit providers, addressing inquiries and resolving issues
  • Collaborates with payroll to ensure accurate processing of benefit deductions, contributions, and adjustments, resolving any discrepancies in a timely manner Stays current with federal and state regulations related to associate benefits
  • Prepares and submits regulatory reports, ensuring compliance with all applicable laws
  • Manages annual benefits audits and ensures proper reporting and communications for tax and legal requirements
  • Prepares government-mandated reports such as (but not limited to): EEO, Affirmative Action, and Vets100
  • Maintains accurate records and generates reports on benefits, compensation, and other employment-related data for internal stakeholders
  • Plans and executes annual open enrollment processes, including communication strategies and associate education
  • Assists with annual merit review process
  • Coordinates, presents, and manages communication regarding benefits education and benefits changes
  • Assists with other various Human Resource functions including, but not limited to: associate relations, compensation, benefits and training functions.

 

Job Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 3-5 years of related HR Benefits experience and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Preference to candidates with at least 2 years of HRIS experience (Dayforce is a plus)
  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal
  • Strong knowledge of US Federal and State regulations, including ERISA, COBRA, FMLA, and other relevant laws
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality
  • Strong attention to detail, analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
