Seaman Corporation is seeking a Benefits Coordinator to join our Human Resources team! This position will report to the Benefits Supervisor in Wooster, OH.

 

POSITION SUMMARY: The Benefits Coordinator administers and communicates associate benefit programs to ensure a positive associate experience while maintaining compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements. This role manages benefits enrollments and changes, serves as a key point of contact for associate benefit inquiries, coordinates with benefit vendors, and supports reporting, audits, wellness initiatives, and open enrollment activities. The Benefits Coordinator also provides backup payroll support related to benefit deductions and maintains accurate records across multiple HR systems.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Administer associate benefit enrollments, changes, terminations, and HSA updates with accuracy and timeliness.
  • Maintain benefits, employment, and compensation records in HRIS, Oracle ERP, and Dayforce.
  • Serve as liaison between associates and benefit providers, resolving issues and answering inquiries.
  • Provide backup support to payroll to ensure accurate benefit deductions and contributions.
  • Prepare and distribute compliance notices, including COBRA and Life Port/Conversion.
  • Assist with wellness program administration, communications, and incentive processing.
  • Support regulatory reporting (EEO, Affirmative Action, VETS).
  • Assist with benefits audits, documentation gathering, and vendor invoice reconciliation.
  • Participate in open enrollment planning, communication, processing, and associate assistance.
  • Maintain organized paper and electronic records, including Laserfiche document management.
  • Support benefit meetings, associate communications, and additional HR functions as needed.
  • Support additional human resources functions as needed, including associate relations, compensation activities, benefits administration tasks, and training coordination.

 

Job Requirements

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • 2 + years of experience in benefits administration, human resources, or a related field
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related area (or equivalent experience)
  • Knowledge of benefits compliance requirements (COBRA, ACA, EEO, VETS)
  • Strong attention to detail, communication skills, and customer service orientation
  • Proven ability to handle confidential and sensitive data appropriately

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience with HRIS systems such as Oracle ERP and Dayforce
  • Previous experience with retirement plan administration and vendor management
