About the Role: Ohio Farms Packing Co is looking for a Maintenance Helper to support our maintenance team at our Creston, Ohio meat processing facility. This is an entry-level, hands-on role ideal for someone looking to build a career in industrial maintenance. You’ll work alongside experienced technicians, learning equipment and building mechanical skills while helping keep production running smoothly.

 

Responsibilities

  • Assist Maintenance Technicians with preventive maintenance, repairs, and equipment installations
  • Perform basic tasks such as lubrication, cleaning, and minor adjustments on production equipment
  • Help troubleshoot simple mechanical issues on conveyors, packaging equipment, and processing machinery under supervision
  • Retrieve parts and tools, and keep the maintenance shop and work areas organized
  • Assist with equipment shutdowns, lockout/tagout, and basic sanitation-related maintenance tasks
  • Log completed work and parts used in the facility CMMS with guidance from technicians
  • Support the team during on-call or after-hours breakdowns as needed
  • Follow all USDA, HACCP, food safety, and facility safety protocols

 

Job Requirements

Requirements

  • 0–2 years of maintenance or manufacturing experience; willingness to learn is essential
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and comfort using common hand tools
  • Ability to follow instructions and work safely alongside experienced technicians
  • Ability to work in a cold, wet environment (facility operates at refrigerated temperatures)
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs and work on feet for extended periods
  • High school diploma or GED required

 

Preferred

  • Prior experience in a manufacturing, warehouse, or food processing setting
  • Technical/vocational coursework in mechanical, industrial, or electrical trades
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus
